Author, editor, advisor and telehealth evangelist. With a focus on advancing the adoption of telehealth and virtual care technologies at the national level, I’m applying 26 years of experience, insights, and influence to several important projects. In addition to my role at Partners HealthCare, I am serving as incoming President of the ATA, continuing as co-chair of the AMA’s Digital Medicine Payment Advisory Group, serving on the AAMC’s telehealth committee, and taking on a new post as Editor-in-Chief of npj Digital Medicine, a Nature Research Journal. I will also continue my activities as Professor of Dermatology at Harvard Medical School. Author of The Internet of Healthy Things (2015) and The New Mobile Age: How Technology Will Extend the Healthspan and Optimize the Lifespan (2017)

Reid Plimpton, MPH , Program Manager at NETRC
Reid Plimpton is the Project Manager for the federally funded Northeast Telehealth Resource Center (www.NETRC.org), a member of the National Consortium of Telehealth Resource Centers and a project of Medical Care Development, Inc. (www.MCD.org). As Project manager since early 2019, Reid assists organizations while they develop, implement, and expand telehealth programs. Mr. Plimpton is passionate about the telehealth field and its capacity to improve access to healthcare and quality of care, especially its impact on rural and underserved areas. Reid’s expertise includes policy research and development, inclusive of telehealth reimbursement policies, legal and regulatory issues, model programs, and telehealth technology. He holds a Master of Public Health with Honors from The Dartmouth Institute for Health Policy and Clinical Practice.

I served 20 years in daily newspapers, working my way up the journalistic food chain from beat reporter to columnist to managing editor. I joined MedTech Media in 2007, where I was managing editor for two national business-to-business publications, Healthcare IT News and Healthcare Finance News, and editor of MobileHealthWatch and mHIMSS.org. I helped launched and was the editor of mHealthNews.com, a national online publication focused on all things mHealth and telehealth, for HIMSS Media, which had acquired MedTech. In November 2015 I joined Xtelligent Media and became editor of mHealthIntelligence.com, an online news site focused on mHealth, telehealth and telemedicine.
